Inspiration Through Inebriation

Some of literature's most famous authors have been known to habitually over-consume, producing beautiful, enlightened or dark and melancholic works. DP serves as a repository, a community and a forum for the expression of lubricated creativity. You certainly do not need to be intoxicated to be welcome here. This is not a drunk-fest or college humor site, but drunks and college humorists are welcome. As is anyone else who wants to read some inspired words or contribute their own.

Please try to operate here with an honest, creative intent. Consider Drunken Poetry as a genre or style -- like Drunken Monkey is to Kung Fu. Words are powerful tools. Lets see what we can do with them.

Poem of the Moment
Out Abroad
I spent the last 5 nights getting absolutely drunk in a foreign city.
Each night I fell in love with a different woman.
Tonight, I was consumed with the faraway stares and curvy body movements of
A woman reading an Italian novel.
I sipped my drink and made sweet eye contact with her for about an hour.

Some drunken boy from australia sat down beside me
He started to wave at my woman interest.
Wave and shout like a child. Fucking buffoon.
She got up and left.
I was ready to glass the bastard.

Now I sit here pissed out my mind.
Corrupting poetry.

Lately
We haven't been very active here at DP lately -- an ode to you, jobs and families. We certainly appreciate your contributions and try to keep up with reading any posts. Summer is coming and that usually means a new inspiration for words, even if only due to soaking in sun and beer. Lets hear it!

We've also seen some activity from The Young Minstrels who are also contributing here. Check them out. Words are good.

Keywords are Important
Keywords are used when someone searches for contributions. When you create a new contribution, add keywords that relate. These can be how you felt when writing it, the style of the writing or categories that you feel the contribution would fit into.

Some examples of keywords: poem, verse, story, limerick, life, love, adventure, depressing, happy, drinking, tequila, beer, food
